This is a translation project report on Space Weapons: TechnologicalFolly? The writer of the source text is Mark Hilborne. The source textshows detailed overview of the weaponisation of space and space defense,and puts forward original ideas to maintain space security. The reportconsists of four chapters:1) Project Components, consisting of thebackground of the project, significance of the project, and layout of thereport.2) The Source Text, consisting of introduction to the ST author,introduction to the ST, the main contents of ST, and style and linguisticfeature of the ST.3) Translation Difficulties and Methodologies, includingtranslation difficulties, translation preparations, translation methodologiesused in translation by examples.4) Conclusion, including the experiences and lessons from the project, limitations of current study and prospects forfurther study.Under the guidance of the text type theory, the ST is classified as aninformative-function text, and the author analyzes the linguistic feature ofthe ST. The aim of the translation is to accurately convey the originalinformation and ensure the readability of the ST. Based on Newmark’scommunicative translation theory; the author shows translationmethodologies used in translation by examples.
