This is a translation project report on a practice guide "Encouraging Girls inMath and Science". The practice guide is from the "Research Release " of the websiteof American Department of Eduction. The practice guide is of great practicalsignificance. In this practice guide, there are altogether five recommendations to helpteachers and parents educate girls to solve problems in math and science learning.Based on Skopos theory, the author of the translation report is going to analyze thecontent, situational context, language characteristics of the practice guide and is goingto conclude experience and lesson during translation, hoping to make somecontribution to the application field of Skopos theory.The translation project report consists of four parts. The first chapter is theintroduction of the translation project, including its background, goal, significanceand structure of the report. The second chapter covers the introduction of thebackground of the source text, the main content and analysis of the source text. In thethird part, the difficulties met, the preparations done and the translation strategiesadopted are presented in light of the functional equivalence theory. The forth chapterconcludes the enlightenments, lessons and unsolved problems in the translationprocess. |
