Weihai has a long coastline in Shandong Province, fishery industry is very developed, the market of seafood product is developing rapidly. All kinds of delicious seafood which are getting the favor of the local people and tourists has already become the local specialty of Weihai. But the seafood packaging design fall behind other cities’, packaging design is not fastidious, they look the same, visual expression is garish and vulgar. There is no characteristics of our local specialty. The whole packaging are not matched with the good quality of seafood. To this end, this article come up with some method to combine regional culture with packaging design in the respect of the local regional culture, in order to realize the creative exploration of regional culture in seafood packaging design of Weihai and the packaging design.First of all, from the investigation of Weihai’s seafood market, we can found out the defects of Weihai’s local seafood packaging design; Secondly, through the study and understanding of good packaging design, we can find the key to integrate the regional culture. Finally, by means of the exploration and deep research of different culture of Weihai, we can extract the useful part for seafood packaging design, such as the paper-cut of Weihai, corn bract and so on. We can analyze the Forms and methods which cultural elements participating in seafood packaging design. I hope I can offer a useful reference to the local seafood packaging design through the view and method that I learned and summarized.
