Migrant workers are the particular outcome of China’s industrialization andurbanization. With the development of economy and society, migrant workers, whosequantity keeps growing since Reform and Openness, have made great contribution tourban construction and ecomomic development. In recent years, accompanying withsupersession of the old by the new within migrant workers’ group, old generations ofmigrant workers withdrawed from labour market gradually, while new generationmigrant workers (NGMW) became significant components of work force. Since thegrowing environment, education background and value idea of these two generationsvary a lot, NGMW present different demands and characteristics with the old ones. Aftersolving the problem of stable employment fundamentally, NGMW have strong will tosettle down and integrate into cities, which also draw more and more academic interests.As the second step of NGMW’ Citizenization, how to realize the issue of settlement incities becomes emergent and practical social problems. In this paper, NGMW werechosen as research objects, various kinds of data sources and reference materials,including questionnaire results based on a number of NGMW in Chengdu City,investigation reports of All China Federation of Trade Unions, and data published byNational Bureau of Statistics were collected and analysed by multiple methods,containing literature induction, logical analysis, statistic analysis and so on. The livingstatus and existing main problems of NGMW were studied and analysed. Moreover,through influencing factor analysis of NGMW’s settlement in cities, corresponding policysuggestions and prospects were proposed in the end.
