Since reform and opening up more than30years, China’s economy has achieved aleap-forward development. The process of industrialization and urbanization not onlyhave accelerated economic and social development, but also have expanded theimbalance between regions. Historical tasks of balancing urban and rural developmentand building a harmonious society are referred to the agenda. The new generation ofmigrant workers are transitional groups across urban and rural areas during China’ssocial transformation period. They not only link the past and the future of China’s ruraland urban, and also need become the main force of building a well-off society now andin the future for some time. The new generation of migrant workers have made asignificant contribution to China’s economic development, however, their situation inthe city life is not optimistic, because they are unable to obtain appropriate treatmentand social status. Conflicts of self-identity, the harsh living conditions, marginalizedsocial status make them face multiple difficulties in the process of urban integration.Studies have shown that it is an inevitable trend of urban and rural coordinateddevelopment that booting the new generation of migrant workers integrate into urbanscientific and orderly, changing them to the public in the process of industrializationand urbanization. Their urban integration problems have evolved into reality andurgency social problems. The present study draws lessons from domestic and foreignscholars on the population migration and urbanization of migrant workers of therelated theories and research results in the foundation. Through the sociology,demography, education, psychology knowledge, through questionnaires, interviews,comparative analysis and other research methods (based on Tianjin city part of thenew generation of migrant workers survey),the paper deeply analyzes and discussesthe status of the new generation of migrant workers about adapting and integrating intothe city, the institutional and non institutional factors about hindering them into city.Based on the interactive view of individual integration and city admission, this paper puts forward to continuing education mechanism as well as the system safeguardcountermeasures for new generation migrant workers’ integration into the city, in orderto create a development platform for the new generation of migrant workers and toprovide theoretical and practical reference for achieving the smooth urbanization.
