With China’s rapid economic development, medical and health services continueto improve, the continuous growth of the national life expectancy, the impact ofpopulation aging in China has become increasingly evident. How to handle this agingproblem has been written into China’s “12th Five-Year Plan”, therefore, the study ofthe oldest old problem is very important and very necessary.First, according to the data of China’s six national censuses, after analyzingChina’s population structure and found that China’s population aging process isaccelerating, so the analysis of supporting resources of the Oldest Old in China is ofgreat practical significance. Second, using the data of the National Seniors HealthSurvey in1998and2008, analyzed demographic and socio-economic characteristicsof the Oldest Old. And then compared the three aspects of supporting resources--financial sources, life care, Solace from1998to2008(solace from2002), and foundthe internal structure of the supporting resources does not change during those years.Third, using the supporting resources’ data in2008, analyzed the differences ofsupport resources in urban and rural areas, and then analyzed the factors whichaffecting urban and rural support resources. Fourth, the three aspects of the supportingresources have a significant impact on the life satisfaction of the Oldest Old; therefore,to improve the current oldest old supporting resources is necessary. Fifth, in the lastpart of this paper, in order to improve the supporting resources-(including financialsources, life care, solace) of the Oldest Old, I gave some recommendations.
