Nowadays, ecological problem has become one of the most serious issues that hinder thedevelopment of the whole world. The excessive pursuit of the rapid ecomonic developmentand the excessive exploit of the limited natrual resources all make people faced with theceaseless natrual disaster and deteriorated eco-system. This thesis takes this situation asbackground and makes a further analysis of Marx’s theory on eco-system and environment. Itis making a logical review of all ecosystem-related thoery contained in Mark works, as wellas recalling how Mark and Engels’ eco-system thoery was formed, where it originates andwhat features it has. Based on Economic&Philosophical Manuscripts of1844.The GermanIdeology, and Capital, this thesis studies how Mark and Engels’ eco-system thoery wasformed. Furthermore, this thesis deals with the relationship among Marx’s thoery oneco-system, hegelian dialectics, Feuerbach’s materialism, Liebig’s metabolism theory andDarwinian evolution. On the basis of this, this thesis concludes the four features of Mark andEngels’ eco-system thoery, namely, practicality, humanism, interactivity, and technologyinvolvement. The paper thin analyzes the contents of Mark and Engels’ eco-system thoery. Theirtheory is complicated and complex, containing not only the analysis of the general principleof natural evolutionary process, but also the special social system. In their works like Capital,Marx strongly criticizes the capitalism through ecology and ecological philosophy, which isalso the first one to see the potential danger of environmental crisis. He fully realizes humans’indispensablity on nature, put forth the thought of sustainbale development, and advocate thescientific and appropriate material exchange between humans and nature. According to Markand Engels, disobeyance of natural law will definitely arouse the contrast between human andnature, thus causing the imbalance between nature’s materials and energy and destroying theintergrity of the earth. When the evil behavior surpass the bearing of nature, the latter willrevenge. Therefore, we need to create a harmious relationship between human beings’development and nature.Combined with the contemporary social situation, it examines the significance andaccomplishing approaches of Mark and Engels’ eco-system thoery on constructing today’sharmonious society. Harmonious socialist society contains the harmony between humans andhumans, humans and the society, as well as humans and nature. If the nature is seriouslydestroyed, humans’ living environment will be destroyed too. If the pressure of naturalresources is intense, or the contradiction between economic development and natrual resources is fierce, the harmony between humans and humans, humans and the society will bedifficult to achieve. Therefore, constructing harmonious socialist society should be under theguidance of Mark and Engels’ eco-system thoery, take achieving people’s development in anall-round and freedom way as the final goal, and aim at enhancing people’s quality onecological civilization.
