Nowadays, the employment status is becoming more and more severe with the enlargement and development of high-level education these years. The reasons of this phenomenon are various and among them, there is a typical one, which I think is graduates’concept of choosing a career. This essay will focus on studying the concept of choosing a career of graduates from local colleges and universities by handing out surveys to200students. The survey is divided into four parts which are motivation, awareness, expectation and attitude. By analysis, the author has concluded the previous status of career concept and tried to find the problems exist in it.Then, according to the data found in the survey, the author tried to find out the factors which influence the students’career concept and analyze the importance between different factors, which has been summarized into four different points of view. By analysis, the author found out that the most10important factors are abilities, values, policies, employment market, knowledge, major, economy development, family background, reputation of school and social experiences. By further analysis of data, the author also concluded more detailed information.Last, the author come out some constructive suggestions on how to improve the employment status based on the previous research. The most urgent thing is to adjust the students’career concept by doing some actions from government, school and students themselves. For government, they should enhance the implementation of policies while school should pay more attention to curriculum, training model and career guidance work. And for students themselves, they should adjust their career concept reasonably and focus on their abilities improvement in order to strength their employability and competitiveness.
