Reading is an important part of the information dissemination process, unique cultural transmission of human society, as well as one of the important carriers of ideological and political education work. Thanks to new media technology, great changes have taken place in people’s way of reading. The development of new technology transforms culture-related production, consumption and recreation, converts both content and forms of traditional reading, changing the former one which has lasted for thousands of years. New media technology unite sounds, images and words harmoniously, realizing mobile reading, retrieval reading, on-demand reading and digitization reading, and causing the traditional print culture transit into the visual culture of new media, making it enter "post-modern reading" era. In this way, it brings about quick access to information and more reading materials to college students and surely will have an impact on their way of thinking, thus ideological education of college student is facing with new opportunities and challenges.The ideological education of college students in the context of "postmodern reading becomes an essential issue concerning whether the ideological education could be propagated in an effective way due to the new media environment. Based upon the "post-modern reading" of new media technology, the ideological transmission itself is a project which demands creativity, expectation, systematization and complication as well. A study of students’ reading features, mode and results in the "post-modern reading" environment is necessary. This project aims to make a survey and analysis about the relationship between "post-modern reading" and the ideological education. On the basis of the results, reasonable suggestions will be offered to improve work in this field. The ideological education of college student could not be completed until the following conditions are provided at the same time: be familiar with "What" and "How" of the "post-modern reading"; hold a wide perspective of""technology and human beings, technology and society, human beings and society"; with a view of "sticking to essence while abandoning bad stuff" as the general guidance; aim to establish the proper model of transmitting the ideological education.
