With decades of development, Information Technology Education has borne outstanding fruits. It is playing a key role in various fields of modern education ranging from class to post-class, from teaching practice to curriculum integration. Information Technology Education has indeed raised our information accomplishments and promoted educational reform, which proved itself necessary to modern education. However, while we enjoyed various conveniences brought by it, questions cropped up one after another:man-machine total irrigation, overload of information, unchecked spread of the view that tool or technology alone decide the outcome of education, fossilization of assessment system and absence of humanistic spirit. None of them can be overlooked for they have caused a real bottleneck for the development of Information Technology Education.Looking backward, we can easily find that development of Information Technology Education is characterized by artificiality. Man, as the most dynamic factor has been dominating Information Technology Education by affecting its value, orientation and therefore the final result. And another distinct feature of it is human-orientation which means that it aims essentially at cultivating men’s information accomplishments and promoting the all-round development of men. Hence, the rational analysis on the characteristics of artificiality and human-orientation and the light it may shed on practice is both necessary as well as pragmatic.By means of interview and with his experience accumulated in teaching practice, the author analyzed the present situation of Information Technology Education and then drew a conclusion on both its advantages as well as disadvantages. And to its disadvantages, a solution has been put forward:we should analyze rationally the characteristics of artificiality and men-orientation and find some enlightenment it may bring to the practice of Information Technology Education.This paper elaborates the development of Information Technology Education and its necessity to the society. The two features of it:men-orientation and artificiality has been analyzed from multi-dimensions, teaching aims, teaching contents, teaching methods, teaching tools and teaching process. The paper also enriched the connotation of "men-orientation" with theories like constructivism, multi-intelligence and human-biased learning theory. Based on all the analysis, a conclusion has been drawn that Information Technology Education should be men-orientated. Finally, it is advocated that Information Technology Education should focus on enhancing the students’Humanistic Quality and encouraging them to aspire truth, the goodness and beauty and therefore, promoting their harmonious development containing knowledge, technology and humanity.
