Since the1980s, New Zealand has conducted a series of educationreforms, which are conducive to the rapid expansion of highereducation, with The Institutes of Technology Polytechnics (ITPS).However, problems concerning the quality of education caused by theeducation reforms are increasingly prominent in higher education,especially in ITPS. To ensure the education quality of higher education,especially ITPS, the New Zealand government has taken a series ofmeasures to improve the quality of higher education, graduallyestablishing the quality assurance system and operation mechanism forhigher education.Being the largest college type in New Zealand higher education,ITPS is the core part of higher vocational education in New Zealand,which has made an important contribution to the higher vocationaleducation in New Zealand, while the assurance of education quality ofITPS constitutes the most important and effective part in the qualityassurance system of higher education in New Zealand.This paper takes the quality system of ITPS as the research object,explaining the development and its education quality assurancesystem and analyzing the structure and content of ITPS educationquality assurance system. On the basis of the above, this papersummarizes the following characteristics of the quality assurance systemof higher vocational education in New Zealand: the diversification ofquality assurance, the specialization of assessment agency, thesystematization of faculty management, the soundness of professionalqualification system and academic qualifications authenticationsystem, the emphasis on the function of industries and organizations,etc., and holds that the measures taken by ITPS concerning qualityassurance, assessment agency, faculty construction and academic qualifications authentication are of great worthy to the qualityassurance of higher education in China.
