Extracurricular reading to improve middle school students’ language ability hasimportant significance. This paper taking Weifang Weicheng area as an example, usingquestionnaires and other methods to study Weifang city junior middle school students’extracurricular reading problems, and puts forward corresponding countermeasures andsuggestions.This thesis consists of four parts:The significance of the topics was illustrated in the preface, the relationship ofextra-curricular reading and curricular reading was also clarified.In the first part, correlative researches on junior middle school students extra-curricularreading at home and abroad were represented, the significances of extra-curricular reading ofthe junior middle school students were illustrated, i.e. extra-curricular reading can contributeto the intellectual development of junior middle school students, help to improve thelanguage and literacy and overall quality, help the junior middle school students to form acorrect world outlook.The second part mainly explains the research methods and the research process. Themain research methods are literature research, questionnaire survey, interview investigationmethod. Study of process preparation stage, the implementation stage and the summary stage.For stage work are: reading the literature, according to the new curriculum of junior middleschool Chinese teaching requirements, from the city of Weifang Chinese teaching situation ofcompiling questionnaire. The implementation phase of the work is mainly to extendinvestigation questionnaire, sampling investigation. Summary stage main job is to clean thequestionnaires, the survey results.The third part of the Weifang city junior middle school students’ extracurricular readingof the results of the survey were analyzed. Weifang city junior middle school students’extracurricular reading the main problems are:(1) the students’ reading locations on a single,public resources to be developed;(2) the students’ reading simple form, read the content ofentertainment;(3) the family reading atmosphere. Main reasons for these problems are:(1)the influence of the system of school education, insufficient attention;(2) the teacher guidingextra-curricular reading consciousness, supervisory not capable;(3) parents’ cultural level is not high, affected the students’ reading interest;(4) students’ lack of effective readingstrategies;(5) on extracurricular reading of the lack of effective evaluation.The forth part of the Weifang city junior middle school students’ extracurricular readingproblems proposes the solution strategy. This part puts forward several suggestions andCountermeasures:(1) teachers in the classroom teaching we should pay attention to thecultivation of students’ extracurricular reading ability;(2) teachers should make system,practical reading program;(3) to cultivate good reading atmosphere;(4) make full use of thecampus network and the social public resources;(5) the establishment of an effectiveevaluation system of extracurricular reading.
