Howard Gardner of Harvard University proposed the theory of multiple intelligence theory in1983, which have had an extensive and far-reaching influence in the education field around the world. This theory also provides the theoretical support and new research directions for the reform and development of our college physical education teaching. Education in China is still in the field of learning and improving stage, and all levels of education especially basis education is being reformed and constructed in a new round of physical education and health course. The aim of this study is that applying the multiple intelligence theory to develop the students’intelligence and cultivate their abilities and enhance the course’s effects in physical education curriculum. The novel physical teaching mode guided by multiple intelligence theory is built according to the characteristics of intelligence theory and physical teaching. The novel mode is analyzed from aspects of teaching methods, contents and evaluation, and is suitable for the development of students based on the individual difference.In this paper, the multiple intelligence theory and the physical teaching mode are studied intensively. On the basis of the existing research, including the literature material method, teaching experiment, psychological measurement method, logic analysis and the mathematical statistics of the experimental data and the questionnaire, the results are obtained as follows.1. The disadvantages of traditional teaching modes are summarized and analyzed by the knowing of current teaching situations. A novel physical teaching mode combining with the multiple intelligence theory and requirements of the era is developed which is suitable for the students.2. This paper presents a novel multiple physical teaching mode with multiple intelligence theory, including multiple teaching mode, content, methods, modes and evaluations. The Gardner’s eight intelligence opinions make the various physical courses into a multiple and crossed field. The courses are divided into three levels which meet the requirements of students.3. After the analysis of the experimental group and compared group, it is shown that multiple intelligence theory is more suitable for students. From the questionnaire after teaching, it is also indicated that the multiple teaching method, content and evaluation are accepted by the students.This paper applies the multiple intelligence theory to college physical teaching courses based on the previous researches, which overcome the disadvantages of traditional teaching methods. This study provides the information for improving and reforming teaching and personnel training.
