Geography is the science of studying the geographical environment and the relationship between human activities and geographical environment, which focuses on experience. Organizing the geography activities and guiding the students to learn geography are the important means of geography teaching. The national education policies of "The outline of basic education curriculum reform" and " compulsory education geography curriculum standard, the2011edition " call for reforming of teaching methods of geography, guiding the students to learn the geography that is useful to their life and development, opening up the construction of the geography curriculum.Based on the activity teaching of geography in junior high school, the paper discussed the connotation and the implementation plan of activities teaching of geography and through literature research and case study and other methods.The first part of the paper is the exordium. The paper introduced the activity teaching study both at home and abroad. Based on those, the author set the research background and methods.The second one is the basic theories of the research. The paper regards the theories of activity teaching of geography. Based on those, it discussed the connotation of the activity teaching of geography in junior middle school, which is based on the students’ need and interests, and to teach geography knowledge as the fundamental starting point, the interaction between teachers and students as the core to construct geographic subject forms of classroom activities curriculum and the rich geographical extracurricular activities. The activity teaching makes students learn knowledge from the activities and explore consciously around the social life in all kinds of realistic, comprehensive, practical and other geographical problems, explore the methods to solve the problems, and train students’practice ability and their innovative spirit, This kind of teaching method is independent, cooperative, integrated, open and practical.The third one is the core of the paper. The paper discussed activity teaching methods. There are three kinds of activities: language communicative activity, operation experience activity, and exploratory activities. The paper classified the methods of activity teaching of geography of Hunan junior middle school geography course. At the same time, the paper carried out certain activities interspersed among them, make a form, will be a variety of activities throughout the integrated use of teaching. At last, the paper inspected the affection of activities teaching of geography in junior middle in five aspects, the performance of class, the homework effect,the results of examinations, the ability to solve geograghical problems, the interest in learning geography.The fourth one is the final part of the paper. It summarized the possible innovations and deficiencies of the paper.
