With the further popularization of China’s higher education and the reform of the enrollmentsystem, the number of the special group of students in domestic colleges and universities arecontinuously increasing. Due to the big difference in physical quality and health status of thespecial group of students, the teaching task of physical education is extremely arduous. As animportant part of the higher education, college physical education must make reform andadjustment accordingly to meet the physical education needs of the special group.Through investigation and consideration on current situation of special physical education inseven universities in Jilin, the author discovers some main problems below:1. The current situation of special physical education in each university in Jilin is in disorder.Only four in the seven universities investigated have opened physical education or other relatedcurriculum for the special group. Although some universities have opened the physical educationcurriculum for the special group, they mainly focus on low-intensity exercise on the content of thecourses which cannot improve students’ physical quality and health level. Meanwhile, the teachingorganization form is still using the class teaching system and can’t achieve differential treatment.2. Universities in Jilin should strengthen teachers’ research and training to meet the physicaleducational needs of the special group.3. Up till now, the seven universities in Jilin haven’t carried out the cultivation of sportsinstructors and volunteers for the special group of students, not even attempting to bring them intocollege physical educational system.4. The fields and establishments of the universities in Jilin can basically meet the needs of thespecail group, but there’s none suitable for the disabled students.5. The examination and evaluation system of special physical education curriculum inuniversities in Jilin is very poor. Most universities use the exam-free system or lay stress onphysical quality examination, making no evaluation of the exercise habit and movementconsciousness in the physical teaching proces on the special group of students.According to the above finding, the author gives countermeasures and suggestions from thefollowing four aspects:1. Avoiding the special group of students in junior-senior high school period.2. Proposing the basis of division and classification.3. Setting up high efficient college physical educational teaching system for the specialgroup.4. Establishing scientific examination and evaluation system of for college physical educationof the special group.
