As a provincial capital city along the coast, Fuzhou has a large number of migrant workers, whose continuing education is, to a certain degree, highly representative. Lacking of the early education, migrant workers are limited by their cultural quality and level of education, which in turn makes them even harder to adapt to the city life, hence, it is quite necessary to study the continuing education of migrant workers. According to the result of a series of questionnaires and semi-structured interviews, the majority of the migrant workers showed willingness to receive continuing education but, the reality is, only a tiny fraction of them participated in. Despite all the concerning policies released by the government, there’s a deficiency in promotion and publicity; the intervention forces are legion, but mainly focus on the vocational training; compared with the large number of migrant workers, the number of people participating in continuing education is rather small; the training courses is rigid in form and short in time; the degree of involvement and the enthusiasm of the migrant workers is not very high. In response to these problems, strategies are offered in this thesis mainly from the following four aspects. First of all, we should, raise our society’s awareness of the importance of migrant workers’continuing education while improving their enthusiasm of participation; Secondly, laws and regulations have to be improved, so does the related policies and systems; thirdly, the promotion channels need to be widen and the content of the continuing education diversified; fourthly, it is necessary to promote the concept of lifelong education and perfect the system of continuing education for migrant workers. Through these measures, this thesis aims to better improve the circumstances of continuing education of migrant workers in Fuzhou, promoting the construction of a learning society and the construction of the concept of lifelong education. There are still some deficiencies in the process of writing and researching, such as the lack of depth in the study of the distribution of the education resources, the teaching evaluation and the feedback of continuing education for migrant workers and, on some issues, such as building a system of continuing education is not comprehensively considered.
