Since the end of the last century, the higher vocational education in China has madeconsiderable progress and great achievements. At present, the development of higher vocationaleducation is in transition from the compensatory growth phase to the adaptive stage ofdevelopment, shifting from content development to scale expansion. The primary task of thetransition period is to resolve the negative effects of decreased environmental adaptabilitycaused by the imbalance in quality, quantity, and structure. As the core content of connotation buildup in higher vocational colleges, majorconstruction is the foothold of the development of higher vocational colleges. As a matter offact, the higher vocational major in some cases can not be well adapted to the needs of shiftingmode of economic development in quality, structure, characteristics, and effectiveness. It isnecessary to make an environmental adaptability evaluation of the existing majors by analysisof the internal and external environment, and make corresponding major reform based on theseevaluation results. By optimizing the structure, adjusting the layout, and reforming andimproving the disciplines and professional settings, the higher vocational colleges can developand utilize the potential advantages of the education elements, improve the rational allocationof education resources, so as to improve resource sharing rate and use efficiency.Over the past decade, China’s medical apparatus and instruments industry has made greatprogress, with doubling increases in the number of manufacturing enterprises, the scale andvariety of products, significant improvement in quality. In the next5to10years, the YangtzeRiver Delta region will form a mutually supporting and cooperating field of the medicalapparatus and instruments industry cluster, which means that the scale of production will be further expanded, the demand for talent structure will undergo some changes. C school’smedical apparatus and instruments professional training provides a highly skilled talent base forthe medical device manufacturing, sales and other units in Zhejiang Province and the YangtzeRiver Delta region. In order to get a proper development, it should make further adjustmentsbased on the professional adaptability evaluation results on the external environment andinternal environment. The paper applies the theory of educational evaluation, the Analytic Hierarchy Process,SWOT analysis and other methods to the related research.Firstly, the paper summarizes the core of internal and external environment with whichmajors of higher vocational college are confronted, and demonstrates that of the medicalapparatus and instruments major in Zhejiang C School based on the investigation, using theSWOT analysis to make the preliminary qualitative analysis. Secondly, the article makes afactor analysis on the environmental adaptability of the higher vocational college under the newsituation, identifying2evaluation criteria (grade-1indicators) and16Evaluation Programmer(grade-2indicators) to describe the elements of evaluation. In accordance with the expertscoring method to construct the judgment matrix, the level sort calculations and the consistencytest for the weight of professional adaptability index system of vocational colleges. Finally, thispaper uses the professional adaptability index system and weight to measure the medicalapparatus and instruments majors’ professional adaptability. Based on measurement results ofthe medical apparatus and instruments major, it makes the SWOT analysis of their opportunitiesand threats, strengths and weaknesses. According to the TOWS matrix technology, this paperproposes a diversified development strategy based on the demand for talents, a differentiateddevelopment strategy based on their characteristics, an alliance strategy based on the integrationof resources, and a innovative development strategy based on modern educational technology, which points out the direction for the development of medical apparatus and instruments majorin C school.
