At present, China’s Matriculation Geography Tests have been emerging many questions about local geography. In view of the current college entrance examinations, a province acts as the unit to organize the questions, so the scope of "local" is the province itself. Local geography is a compulsory course at junior high school, and plays an important part in the college entrance examination. However, many teachers at junior high school do not attach the importance to the local geography, while the teachers at senior high school have too little time to teach local geography systematically, completely or theoretically, resulting in big problems and creating gaps between teaching and testing. In this paper, the use of literature analysis, comparative law, statistical analysis and other research methods, together with2007-2011papers and other materials of information to be gathered, to be analyzed, to be inducted and to be organized, by understanding the characteristics of the local geography questions,I try to describe the local geography questions as a whole and draw relevant revelation. Quality education theory, constructivist theory and the Negligence education theory are the foundation of my theory. The questions of local geography, in line with the above theories of education, and human requirements, will guide the continuous improvement of teaching. Let me show the background of such situation from these three aspects:the implementation of provincial autonomy proposition; the gradual geography curriculum reform; the full development of students. In the past five years, it has been seen that the general characteristics of the local geography is quite obvious:Independent proposition and diverse presentation are closely linked to regional hot spots, reflecting the direction of subject reform. Right now, eastern Jiangsu and central Anhui are advanced curriculum provinces, while western Sichuan has not yet adopted the curriculum examinations, but they all have typical types among scores of national college entrance papers,having distinguish differences between the areas of curriculum and non curriculum. Local Geography questions from the three provinces in recent five years, the papers have the following characteristics in common:the content of the examination has an important role in regional human geography and sustainable development, focused on the analysis of industrial location factors, comparing different regions between natural and human environmental differences, showing population migration, examining students access in the local area in the form of charts, text materials to interpret the information ability. On the other hand, the curriculum areas test about local geography more greatly, clearly and directly than non-curriculum areas do. Finally, I must point out that the local geography teaching needs to be implemented from the following three aspects:to attach importance to the improvement of the quality of geography teachers; to emphasize on the local geography teaching at secondary school; to standarlize the local geography teaching at senior high school.
