A.s the process of basic education informationizing is accelerated and advanced, the information literacy of teachers in primary and junior middle schools has been increasingly central issue. On one hand, the cultivation of students’ information literacy in primary and junior middle schools depends on the teachers’ demonstration and guidance."Information technique is not miraculous magic; only teachers are the real magicians." For this point, the information literacy of teachers in primary and junior schools has been one of the key elements to affect students. On the other hand, the information literacy of teachers in primary and junior middle schools can be helped to renew teachers’teaching notion, as well as improve teaching results, so as to satisfy the needs in a new discourse revolution of basic education.This research collects data on current condition of teachers’information literacy in urban primary and junior middle schools in Chengdu in ways of questionnaire and individual interview, and then analyzes the data, so as to research the current advantages which are the enhancement of the information consciousness, the increasing of the information knowledge and the improvement of the information abilities. According to the weak points in information literacy, such as the low coverage of information training by the education departments, the shortage of technical equipment in primary and junior middle schools and the lack of ability of teachers’information technique and teaching, it also proposes some relative available strategies. For education departments, it is hoped that the education technique should be fully equipped and widely covered in most of the primary and junior middle schools. Meanwhile, the training for teachers in information knowledge should be more pointed and effective. For primary and junior middle schools, the headmasters’information literacy should be improved first and then exposed to other teachers. Individual teachers should learn to manage time effectively and develop autonomic learning to improve teachers’information literacy in urban primary and junior middle schools in Chengdu.
