Since the reform and opening up, our country has witnessed rapid economicdevelopment and obvious improvements in people’s living conditions. However, atthe same time，some people’s physical health has declined, one main reason of whichis the lack of physical exercise. Most of the middle-aged and young working peopleseldom participate in physical activities actively because of different reasons such asworking pressure and the lack of time, interest and places for physical exercise.However, with more and more large-scale competitive sports having beensuccessfully held in our country, there has been a generally growing sense ofparticipation among people. Instead of only being concerned about and supportingcompetitive sports at the very start, more and more people, motivated by theenthusiasm of physical activities, have begun to participate in different physicalactivities and enjoy themselves in them. Therefore, physical activities have gradually’entered into more and more peoples daily life.Certain stadium facilities are needed for physical exercise as material conditions.However, Guangzhou has seen the increasing proportion of sports population becauseof acceleration of urbanization process and increase of permanent and transientpopulation, in spite of a great number of stadium facilities in Guangzhou for the pastfew years. As a Jesuit, there has been a growing contradiction between people’s growing desires for physical exercise and existing limited stadium facilities.Therefore, more and more attention has been paid to the problem of how to eiffcientlyutilize the stadium facilities, especially the stadiums in schools.Stadium facilities in demonstrative high schools, which are in good condition,are mainly used for physical education, extracurricular physical activities, physicaltraining, different kinds of matches and so on. However, because of various reasons,stadiums in demonstrative high schools are not fully utilized during non-teaching time.Therefore, it has a certain significance for nationwide fitness programs to research onhow to make the stadiums in demonstrative high schools available to the public.This thesis，by researching and analyzing the current situation in which stadiumsare made available to the public, the existing problems and the influencing factors, isintended to come up with according countermeasures and suggestions for thereasonable utilization of ’stadium facilities in Guangzhous demonstrative high schoolswhich are made available to the public. What’s more，this thesis is meant to furtheradvance the development of standardization of stadiums available to the public,comprehensively implement the national fitness programs and accelerate theconstruction of harmonious socialist society.Results of the researches indicate that there is still a certain distance between thecurrent situation in which stadiums in demonstrative high school are made availableto the public and what the government has advocated. The existing main problemsinclude few stadiums that are available to the public, unreasonable opening time，comparatively few kinds of available sports，comparatively low opening degree anduse ratio, different paying prices，lack of realization of importance of stadiums beingmade available to the public in some schools, increasing investment in humanresources in schools，shortage of allocation for stadiums in schools, damage to thestadium equipment, influenced order in normal education, increasing of potentialsafety hazards in schools, lack of sports management talents and P. E. instructors, lackof conditions needed for opening to the outside world and so on.Countermeasures and suggestions: intensify the knowledge of schools in thework of making stadiums available to the public; enact reasonable expenses standards, prices and feasible available kinds; seek for multilateral financing channels forstadium facilities in schools and attach importance to the construction andmaintenance of physical facilities; increase the intensity of introducing sportsmanagement talents and improve the management of making stadiums available to thepublic; strengthen supervision and publicity over making stadiums available to thepublic and produce a favorable fitness environment; formulate effective managementsystems and strengthen supervision and guidance over making stadiums available tothe public; accelerate the legislative process for campus security, enhance cooperationbetween schools and insurance companies and make joint efforts to set up securitymechanisms for campus security; enhance cooperation between schools and nearbycommunity committees, make joint effotrs to build a harmonious campus andcommunity and promote the implementation of nationwide fitness programs.
