Since the new era of human re-examine the development process, sum up the pastserious lessons to consume a lot of natural resources and the expense of the naturalenvironment at the expense brought about by the rapid development of economy. Geographyis a science of the relationship between geographical environment and human activities andthe geographical environment. Develop geographic literacy of modern and future citizens,will lay a more rational, scientific basis for this examine and summarize. The formation ofmental maps has very important significance for develop geographic literacy. Focus on thestudents’ mental maps in the teaching of geography in training, and to cultivate the middleschool students of geography and geographic literacy. The author from the cognitive theory,constructivist theory in these two areas into the formation of elaborate mental maps of MiddleSchool Students, and beneficial effects of the proposed mental maps the process ofconstructing the training capacity of geography.The full text is divided into four parts:The first part is the introduction. This section describes the background to the study onthe mental map of the domestic and international research profile, and proposed the meaningof the mental map of study for students and teachers. In addition, it is also briefed themethods of subject research.The second part, explained the maps and mental maps relations and mental map features,and the interview questionnaire analysis of the mental map is not optimistic about the statusquo.The third part, mental map in the theory research infrastructure and constructionprocesses. Guidance through the construction of learning theory, mental maps to theformation of a process more optimized. According to students’ cognitive status andcharacteristics of geographical knowledge, constructing students’ mental map, which is acomplete system of mental map and geography framework. This process are interrelated, thetop-down learning process. The fourth part is the affect which mental map to cultivate the ability of the geography.This section describes the beneficial effects of the mental map of the formation of the cultureof geography ability, further research on this subject for reflection.
