Thanksgiving Education Action Research On Elementary School Students

Knowing to be grateful is a traditional virtue of our country. It’s the principal moral criteria which each one of us should adhere to and it’s also the elementary self-cultivation as a human being and a natural feeling we all share. Gratitude education is a humanities education, through which educators teach the students and children how to understand, identify, return and bestow gratitude with certain education methods and certain grateful contents. Gratitude can promote us trust comprehend and respect each other as well as establish harmonious relationship among people. Giving thanks enables people to be always hopeful, to confront all the frustrations and hardships sensibly in life and to handle all the rights and wrongs calmly in mind. It can also win other people’s respect and even more emotional rewards as well. Gratitude is a kind of civilization and also a kind of morality. With a heart of gratitude, the relation between human and human, human and nature, and human and society can only get more and more peaceful and friendly. We ourselves can become happier and healthier because of thankful heart, thus our lives will be more prosperous. Gratitude is not only a kind of morality but also a kind of responsibility.The research we’ve done about the gratitude education aims at sowing the noble morality seeds in the minds of elementary school students in Grade3and4. They will learn how to behave well and how to do things. To do the things like study, work, life, society and nature with a heart of peace, reverence and gratitude. We will start our research on the most basic activities and investigate the current situation of elementary school students’gratitude behavior. We will analyze their gratitude behavior from the angles of students, teachers and environments respectively. In addition, we’ll summarize the effective strategies based on their behaviors. How to help students feel the affectionate emotion parents, others, society and nation devote to them? How to let students know they should reward their parents for bringing them up and contribute to their motherland in return for training them? Through the research of this topic, I try to find more effective ways and methods to gratitude education Elementary school students, esp. those single children of Grade3and4can learn to hold a gratitude felling, knowing the expectation their parents and teachers have on them. They can also learn to respect work of other social members, keep working hard and have an upward spirit in order to become confident, independent and persistent. We hope to spread the research results through proper ways, making gratitude education of adolescents as the starting and turning point of ideological construction.
