| Purpose:Graduate students’education is different from undergraduate students’ education, and educational objectives and requirements are different too, the factors that affect graduate students’ anxiety in choosing jobs are different as well. In this study is about graduate students’vocational selection anxiety, and mainly focuses on their career selection value, level of anxiety and the socio-psychological factors that affect their anxiety. This study is in hope of providing some theoretical information for career guidance department, graduate students training mode, course structures, and curriculum design, and is to help the graduate student’s career choosing situation.Methods:This study used questionnaires mainly, and supplemented literature review, and interviews. This study is divided into two steps:pre-survey process, and official research. Pre-survey was carried out among150graduates from Wuhan. The results of pre-survey and literature research contains six subscales:(1) Basic Information and Career Questionnaire Test;(2) State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI,Form y-I, S-AI);(3) Rational Cognition Questionnaire;(4)causes anxiety College Graduates Questionnaire (VSAQ);(5) Simplified Coping Style Questionnaire(SCSQ),(6) Eysenck Personality Questionnaire (EPQ), the formal study of850questionnaires were distributed.The research was carried out among850graduate students from eight universities in Wuhan, and it is concerned about anxiety level, career ideas, career anxiety, causes, and personality, coping style and rational understanding of the psychological characteristics of these three aspects of the quantitative survey. This study has found:(1) The anxiety level of graduate students is significantly higher than the normal mode, which indicates that the graduates’job hunting competition is fierce, resulting a higher level of anxiety.(2) This group of people’s vocational values are different from that of the college graduate students’in previous studies. These differences are:①They tend to pursue jobs of high stability, which is different from college graduates. The most wanted jobs are:civil servants, state-owned enterprises employees, and school teachers.②Their expected salary is different too.52.3%of the graduate students look forward to5000Yuan monthly salary is3000,18.6%desired monthly salary is5000to8000Yuan,7.3%of the subjects expected a monthly salary of8000Yuan or more, no one will accept a1500monthly salary.(3) According to the analysis of objective factors, level of anxiety, multiple regression, the study shows that: significant6factors which affect their anxiety gender, major, financial pressure, expected monthly salary, desired working place, and career guidance.(4) This study analyzed level of anxiety and individual traits, and it shows that: lack of job-hunting support, lack of confidence, fierce competition in the human resources market,neuroticism, psychoticism and pessimism have a positive correlation with their level of anxiety; rationality, worriers about the prospects in RE market have little to with the level of anxiety; Internal and external orientation and positive coping with career anxiety are significantly negatively correlated with the level of anxiety.(5) This study did path analysis between psychological characteristics and level of anxiety. The results are:coping style has a partly medium effect in neuroticism, psychoticism, model fitting works well:CMIN/DF value of3.081, CFI value of0.996. |
