Studying the mental health standards of the university students in the new period is the objective needs of carrying out the college students’mental health education and promoting their mental health level. It is also an important task of constructing the general mental health standards of the college students with the Chinese characteristics in the background of social changes. However, the study on the standards of mental health of university students had a late start in China; it is still in the primary stage. So far it has had a history of only more than20years. The studies about university students’mental health have been increasing, but the achievements are relatively fragmentary, most of which are the differentiation and validation of the western standards and model. The theoretic researches are poor, many are exploration of the abstract and philosophical ideas, or the standards brought forward from the moral education perspective, which are lack of the theoretic basis. The most prominent problem is the understanding and viewpoint of domestic scholars on the standard of mental health are flooding but differ from each other on the numbers of their standard, perspectives and viewpoints. The current standards are hard to be integrated. The current mental health standards especially the college students’ mental health standards cannot be identified by most of the researchers is disadvantageous for the research of the mental health and mental health education of college students. It also makes the students confused about their own mental health standards.In view of these problems, the main purpose of this research is to reveal the structural components and the evaluative elements of the mental health standards of the college students. The procedures of this research are:(1) integrate a variety of mental health standards of the former researchers and compose a questionnaire with good reliability and validity, using this questionnaire to get the students’ understanding on the mental health standards.(2) By the experts’assessment combined with the students’understanding, use statistical methods and theoretical discussion to form a eventual structural components and evaluative elements of the mental health standards of the college students.The conclusions of this study are as follows:1. A multi-dimensional structural model of students’psychological health standard consists of five basic dimensions of22evaluation elements.(1) Dimension1:primary mental abilities, its evaluative elements are:a sense of security, resilience, autonomy, the ability of forming an intimate relationship, self-awareness and acceptance.(2) Dimension2:internal and external coordination and adaption, its evaluative elements are:good social adaptation, keep in touch with reality, integrity and coordination of personality, interpersonal harmony, psychological characteristics in line with the age characteristics.(3) Dimension3:stabilization of emotion and affection, its evaluative elements are:a stable balance of mood, moderate emotional expression and control, a positive attitude.(4) Dimension4:coordination of role and functions, its evaluative elements are: normal intelligence, accord with social norms and meet basic needs, accord with the role expectation of society, family and school, Self-esteem, have life goal and make the goal realistic.(5) Dimension5:good learning ability, its evaluative elements are:effective learning, effective learning, determination and action to learn, succeed in learning and apply what have learned. 2There are some differences between experts and university students on the recognition of the standard of mental health standards. On the whole, the experts’ consent on the standards is higher than students’. The specific higher items are:normal intelligence, self-awareness and acceptance, positive attitude, keep in touch with reality, strong will, resilience.3University students’attitude towards the standard of mental health is a positive one, but with the characteristics of vague and uncertainty, their understanding is more life-orientated than theory-orientated. Therefore there is a need to strengthen and promote the education of college students on mental health standards.4The mental health standards of this study is an ideal scale, they are positive and constructive approach. When apply these standards into practice, people should insist on relative, long-term and dynamic principles.
