Teacher-student interaction refers to interaction and interplay in various types,functions and degrees. While teacher-student interaction in class means the dynamicprocess of the interaction and interplay resulted from communication and intercoursebetween the teacher and students in classroom teaching situation. Nowadays, basiceducation curriculum and basic education reform vigorously advocate the developmentof active, suitable and harmonious teacher-student interaction for pushing the growth ofboth teachers and students. English, as a major course in basic education, should alsodutifully undertake effective teacher-student interaction. The effective teacher-studentinteraction can not only attribute to highly efficient classroom teaching, but also pushthe students’ better digestion of English and cultivate their capacity in using English.For these, after the review of the existing theories, the writer conducts research onordinary high school teacher-student interaction in classroom teaching by using themethods of observation, interview and so on.The whole paper can be divided into five parts: For the first part, it elaboratesquestion posing, the value and theoretical basics. Part two, literature review, definesteacher-student interaction and the related definitions. The third part, is introduction tothe basic research approaches and methods. For the forth part, is the survey and analysisof current situation on teacher-student interaction in high school English classroomteaching. Hence, by observing and analyzing interview records, it arrives at theproblems of teacher-student interaction in ordinary high school English classroomteaching. Accordingly, the last part tries to present effective strategies to solve theproblem.
