China’s gradually changing into a manufacturing power from a manufacturing giant. The rapid economic development has led to an urgent need for skilled workers. In recent years, the shortage of these skilled workers occurs continuously across the country, which is becoming an important factor that cumbers the socio-economic development and has to be solved without delay. Technical education is dedicated to training the middle and senior skilled workers for production and management. The essential requirements for the technical education in training aims and modes are to meet enterprises’ need. To achieve this, we must take the road of school-enterprise cooperation.Technical colleges are an important channel for training skilled workers. School-enterprise cooperation is the right way to success in training skilled workers; it is also the only way to the development of the technical colleges. Furthermore, it is the common demand of the colleges, enterprises, and social development. School-enterprise cooperation can not only take advantages of human and research strengths of the colleges, but also make good use of the resources and market advantages from the enterprises. Both colleges and enterprises will obtain complementary advantages and resource sharing. The colleges and enterprises, the students and society will benefit from the win-win cooperation. With the further development of school-enterprise cooperation, the scope of cooperation expands, the content of cooperation increases, and the level of cooperation is raised. The school-enterprise cooperation booms everywhere, and the situation is excellent. How can we effectively carry out the school-enterprise cooperation? Which mode will we choose for the school-enterprise cooperation to develop the colleges themselves and embody the technical colleges’ characteristics? How can we make the middle and senior skilled workers serve the production, economic development and the progress of the society? All these are a subject which needs a further study. There are many successful school-enterprise cooperation modes in the foreign countries, such as dual system in Germany, the alternating work-study in the United Kingdom, cooperative education in the United States, industry-university cooperation in Japan, TAFE in Australia and Teaching Factory in Singapore. Their success lies in: complete vocational education regulations, companies’participation in schooling, the active supports from the government, and the strict implementation of the vocational qualification system. In China there are also many school-enterprise cooperation modes, such as school-led model, the school-enterprise cooperation mode, school-enterprise entity mode. The major shortcomings are lack of protection mechanisms, the lack of development mechanism, the lack of binding mechanism, the lack of research capacity, and lack of policy protection. This paper analyzes the modes of school-enterprise cooperation in foreign countries and our country. It takes Zhongshan Technicianl College’s successful experience in school-enterprise cooperation as a case study, and studies the issues related to the school-enterprise cooperation in China technical colleges. It analyzes the problems existing in the school-enterprise cooperation in China technical colleges. It puts forward a series of countermeasures to promote our technical colleges’ school-enterprise cooperation. It points out the need to learn from the advanced domestic and abroad experience in succeeding in the school-enterprise cooperation. It is advised to make best use of the schools’ different resources and environment in the corporate, government and the education sector. It is also advised to encourage schools and businesses to closely combine and cultivate suitable persons for business and industry to achieve the goal of win-win result with the government’s platform. Only by establishing the legal protection, corporate-led government guidance, vocational education system of school-enterprise cooperation, and learning from the successful experience of the innovative skill training model will a healthy and rapid development of China’s School-enterprise cooperation be able to come true.
