The textbook of Kai Ming Mandarin written by Ye Shengtao and drawn by Feng Zikai inthe last century thirty’s is a typical textbook in the Chinese textbook history. When this textbookwas published, it received a wide acclaim and this textbook became one of the most widelyspread and the highest frequency of use Chinese Textbooks of the primary school during theperiod of Republic of China. After eighty years, this old textbook is in popular of the newperiod of the publishing market, this phenomenon has aroused our attention and thinking a lot.This thesis takes four hundred and eighty reading of twelve teaching materials in the textbookof Kai Ming Mandarin as the object of study, tries to give a comprehensive analysis and studyof the old texts.Showing the old textbook’s social and historical background when it waspublished firstly and restoring the original appearance of old textbook. Take the essence, goesto its dregs. By this way, we can get some enlightenment and thinking to affect the currentChinese textbooks.The thesis is divided into five parts:The First Part (Preface):This part is on the selection, research situation at home andabroad, the research plan and research methods of the research subject.The Second Part (Chapter I):From two aspects of theory and reality, and from the textswritten by social factors, personal factors as well as the theoretical basis of three angles, inorder to find the basis that form the texts of the textbook of Kai Ming Mandarin, showing theparticular social and historical background when the textbook was born.The Third Part (Chapter II): In this part we will conduct a comprehensive analysis on thetexts of this old textbook. From the selected content types, texts language, genre and text layoutselection in four aspects, in order to restore the original appearance of the old materials.The Fourth Part (Chapter III): Contacting practice and basing on the Chapter I and theChapter II, we will discuss the theory of children’s standard and living standard that the oldtextbook insisted is very important for current articles of Chinese Textbooks.The Fifth Part (Concluding Remarks): In this part, we will summarize and evaluate thetextbook of Kai Ming Mandarin, and emphasize the social significance that the old textbookbrings to us once again.
