A Research On American High School General Music Textbook Music! Its Role And Importance In Our Lives

At the beginning of this century, as the Ordinary High School Music Curriculum Standard (Experiment Draft) promulgated and the use of new curriculum music textbooks throughout the country, which pulled open the prelude of Chinese high school music curriculum reform. The construction of the high school music textbooks is of great significance in our country for high school music curriculum reform, for foreign high school music textbooks construction experience, this study selected the United States current high school General Music textbook—Music! Its Role and Importance in Our Lives as the research object, through text analysis of the textbook, discusses its characteristics and enlightenment to our country high school music education.This study is divided into four parts, the introduction part mainly introduces the research background, significance, frame and so on; Chapter1mainly discusses from the United States high school music curriculum standards and present high school music courses offered in American high school, through which introduced relevant background of American high school music textbooks. Introduced high school music textbooks published by McGraw Hill Company as the example introduction. Chapter2analyzed from the textbook framework, content selection, organization, presentation, four dimensions, of Music! Its Role and Importance in Our Lives; Chapter3concluded the characteristics of Music! Its Role and Importance in Our Lives, this textbook attached importance on the learning of the function of music and chosed materirals close to high school students lives. It guides students to learn different musical culturals, guides students to combine music knowledge and knowledge of other subjects together to resolve problems, cultivates students’ comprehensive development in all-aspects. Characteristics of the textbook, on the basis of combining the reality of our country, discussed enlightenment to our nation’s high school music education.
