In modern education more attention has been paid to the development ofstudents’ psychology; middle school years is the critical period for thedevelopment of student personality, in which they tend to mature and also hasuncertainty at the same time. The self-identity development is a criticalelement for affecting the development of students’ healthy psychology. As forthe students of Grade7who just stepped into the middle school, it is a hugechallenge to adapt to the new environment and form the healthyself-identity.Thus,in this study the students of Grade7are treated as the objectof study,which is helpful for them to solve the problems onself-identity.Besides,the contents of Ideology and Morality in Grade7sets thestudents’ psychology development as the key point,foccuing on thedevelopment of students’ self-identity.So Ideology and Morality teachershould make the thought of cultivating students’ self-identity run through thewhole lessons of Ideology and Morality in Grade7.The research is elaborated with4parts. The first part is the introduction,including the reason for choosing subject, literature review and research waysand methods, mainly exploding the domestic and foreign research results onself-identity. The second part shows the definition of self-identity and theimportant meaning of self-identity for the students of Grade7.The third partillustrates the expression on lacking self-identity for the students of Grade7,and the formation reason of it.And the forth part, the most important part,elaborates how to cultivate the students’ self-identity by lessons of Ideologyand Morality in Grade7.It is explained in2pars,the material and teachingmethods.The former,writers integrated the material as two parts in logical way,“self-reception”and “self-respect and self-strengthening”. Then these twoparts are narrated in a detailed way respectively. In addition, four representative teaching methods are chosen in this study, including themethod of theory with practice, emotional teaching method, the method ofevaluating in all aspects and the method of appreciation education.
