Value Clarification theory produced in the1960s, is the most influential and themost widely used theory in the contemporary moral education of United States. Basedon the research of Value Clarification theory, aimed at critically assimilate somesuccessful experience and provide some useful lessons for the new era of moraleducation reform.In the social environment with drastic changes, values clarification theory cameinto being drawing on nourishment of humanistic psychology, existential philosophyand pedagogy empiricism. It emphasizes the target of moral choice is to improve thestudents ability, in order to give full play to the subjectivity of students as a startingpoint, to improve the traditional way of education indoctrination as a means, to solvethe problem of student life as the purpose. At present, China is also in the diversepolitical, economic, cultural and social environment, the students in the physical andmental development period, the value of their life choices and judgments vulnerableto the impact of the external environment, values gradually showing a trend ofdiversification. Moral education appeared to be inadequate for college students tosolve many new situations and new problems.This paper uses surveys to analysis the current problems of moral education:ignore moral choice abilities, failed to give full play to the subjectivity of students,lack of diversity in the use of moral education method, separate students away fromthe reality of the moral life. Value clarification theory played a important role inimproving the moral situation at that time. Therefore, our moral education necessaryto critically assimilate, learn some successful experiences from the value clarificationtheory for improving the College Moral timely and draw some useful lessons. Valueclarification theory advocates a student-centered, attention to student life, respect forstudent choice, against the traditional, authoritarian indoctrination methods, anddesign a dialogue strategies, writing strategies, cognitive strategies and a series ofvalues clarification method taught students make better moral judgments, moralchoice methods and processes, thus reducing the value confusion and to help studentsadapt to the complex and changing society. This paper mainly learn from thefollowing four aspects of measures to improve the country moral education:improving students moral choice ability, respecting the dominant position of students, innovativing method of moral education, returning to the moral life. For the Westernvalues that we can not copy all of them, should absorb and learn to be creative.Therefore, in the course of reference from value clarification theory, our moraleducation should be noted two problems: a focus on the socialist core valueseducation; give full play to the leading role of educators.
