With the rapid development of social economy, culture and education, the reformof sports teaching goes deeper. Under the teaching guidance of "health first",educators have paid more and more attention to the school physical education. Sportsteaching method’s choosing and application have a significant effect on teachingeffectiveness, which is an important part in sports teaching. Sports teaching methodhas been the research object for many educators constantly, and every teachingmethod possess its own characteristic such as the most basic language method, theintuitive method, complete and decomposition method, prevention and correct method,game and competition method, autonomous learning method, inquiry learning methodand cooperative learning method. The sports teaching educators should choose properteaching method according to different teaching aims and teaching objects.The game teaching method was appealed constantly by sports teaching expertsat home and abroad in recent years. It is an important subject of sports teachingresearch. The game teaching method takes full use of children’s nature of lovingplaying games and let students learn during playing games. American psychologistBruner once said that students’ most active learning motivation is the intrinsic interestof knowledge, and playing games is the most effective method to inspire theirlearning interest. The current education advocates recreation in the process of learning.The game teaching method is just the embodiment to this education guiding ideology.The game teaching method organizes classes in the form of playing games and letstudents master knowledge consciously in a relaxing and pleasant atmosphere orsometimes students can learn knowledge in fierce competitions or stimulatingactivities. All in all, the game teaching method is reasonable and it is a organiccombination of playing and teaching. It facilitates to stimulate students’ learningmotivation and promote their interest in learning and even change students’ learningattitude.Volleyball option class takes an important proportion in universities’ sportsand health course, which is helpful to cultivate the students’ volleyball skills as well as their physical and mental health. This paper tentatively combines the game teachingmethod with the teaching practice of college sports and health courses’ volleyballoption class and the author carries out relevant teaching experiments to justify the fteaching effect and l function of the teaching method from two aspects of theory andpractice. The study is expected to provide reference and guidance for the teachingmethod of college sports and health courses’ volleyball option class.The study was carried out with the assistance of document literature,questionnaire survey, expert interviews, and applied SPSS16.0software to domathematical statistics, logic analysis. The author has also done teaching experiments.The subjects are114sophomore undergraduate students in Shandong NormalUniversity who have volleyball option course. All the informants are from3naturalclasses and each class has38students. After a semester’s teaching experiment (36classhours in all), the experimental conclusions are as followings:(1) The reasonable utilization of the game teaching method in college volleyballoption class teaching has achieved a better teaching effect and the study effectivelyimproves the students’ grades.(2) The game teaching method can give full play to students’ subjectivity andteachers’ leading role. It facilitates students to master relative knowledge and skillsconsciously and makes students’ physical education learning turn to be an autonomousand voluntary behavior.(3) The game teaching method has effectively created a relaxing and pleasantteaching atmosphere for sports education. The good classroom atmosphere isconducive to the active interaction between teachers and students which can assurethe designed teaching effect.(4) The game teaching method inspired the students’ internal learning motivation,and activates the students’ sports learning power regulating system. The studentscreate a strong desire to learn in the process of experience pleasure, which makes theirefforts improve greatly.
