Culture of Wushu consists one of the most important parts of Chinese traditional cultureand also plays the role of carrier of the culture. Taijiquan, as the branch of traditional Wushu, hasdeveloped into a relatively intergrated culture system during its long developing period. With therapid development of China, the world needs to learn about this nation which is old in culture butyoung in its development. Therefore, China implements the strategy of Chinese internationalpromotion. Starting by language, it has achieved remarkable achievements in helping the friendsin the world to know and learn more about China.Since the indivisibility between language and culture, learning Chinese is learning Chineseculture itself. If we can put Taijiquan in the learning of Chinese which makes the Chineselearning more three-dimensional and diversified in the approach of Chinese internationalpromotion? This can not only take use of the current resource, but also achieves more in thespread of Chinese culture.Until October2010, there have been built322Confucius Institutes and369ConfuciusClasses, distributed in96countries and regions. The Confucius Institute in University of Lisbon,Portland State University Brittany, Copenhagen business, New Siberia State TechnicalUniversity, Confucius Institute has arranged Taijiquan as the required or elective course.Taijiquan teaching has applied in a few Confucius Institute but gets less attention. Most cases arein Europe and United States, Taijiquan teaching still has a wide space to develop in helping theteaching of Chinese as the second language. The Europe and US countries are different inlearning Chinese culture compared with Asia countries, but South Korea has a long and closelyhistory of cultural exchange with China, the common cultural background makes Taijiquaneasier accepted by the people there and class of Confucius. In the process of overseas teaching,language teaching is limited by the level of learner’s language skill, there are lots of problemsneglected may affect the effectiveness of teaching. For example, the problem of teacher’slanguage and how to combine the teaching of Chinese and Taijiquan. The paper puts forward thepossible solution to those questions.On the basis of the current research on the teaching and promotion of Taijiquan, alsocombined the theory of teaching design, the author puts forward a Taijiquan teaching casespecially for the Confucius Institute in South Korea. The first part of the paper is the introduction,the author introduced the background and the purpose of the research, and also puts thesignificance of the study, the literature review which reviews the existing research achievements including the international development of Taijiquan. The second part introduced the necessityand possibility of Taijiquan entering the Confucius class and some certain aspects of Taijiquanteaching design are also in this part. The third part is the main body of the paper which talks thebasic principles of teaching, teaching target and the formulation of the teaching plan and syllabus.The paper analyses the current situation of Taijiquan teaching in Confucius Institutes of SouthKorea, discusses the key points and the problem in teaching content and finish the teachingdesign. The last part is the conclusion and the suggestions. In this part, the paper summarizes theresearch results and prospects the development direction in this field in order to providing areference for follow-up researchers.
