Theory Of Xia Gaizun Composition Teaching Thought

Xia Mianzun is not only a famous modern writer, translator, publisher, but also awell-known language educator. In the long-term practice of language education, he creativelyinherited and developed the theories of the older educators, created the distinctive features of theeducational system of thought. This paper gives a brief introduction of the background of theorigin of his teaching thoughts, main contents, practical character and the enlightenment whichcomposition teaching reform gives us today.This paper includes four parts.The first section provides a brief introduction of the background of the origin of XiaMianzun’s teaching theories. He engaged in language education and research work in his lifetime,and always walked in the forefront of language education reform in the long-term practice oflanguage education, which gave birth to his composition teaching theories.The second part focuses on the main content of Xia Mianzun’s theories of compositionteaching. It includes value theory, emotion theory and evaluation theory. Theory of valuecontains three aspects: the writing is life rather than the embellishment of life; writing is to meetthe actual needs; writing skills are uesd for life. While emotion Theory is also discussed fromthree aspects: composition is wroten for love and valued for sincerity which should avoidmaking a fuss. And evaluation theory involves evaluation criteria, evaluation principles andevaluation methods.The third part focuses on the practical character of the the Xia Mianzun’s compositionteaching theories。Including the relationship of the writing with being a man，the relationshipbetween writing and reading，writing and training。The unity of composition and being a man isthe main line throughout Xia Mianzun’s teaching theories of composition。 He said，The reallylearning of literature should begin with being a real man.’consistency’，after all， the text is thereflection of personality。In order to write well， you have to own good personalities。Heattached great importance to read and pointed out that reading is the basis of writing， whilewriting promotes reading。Xia Mianzun also paid attention to the roles of writing skills andindicated that to write better must strengthen training more。Someone even says he is a "training camp"。 He pointed out that there are a lot of advantages to start training with essays，besides which we also need to strengthen the training of thinking abilities。The fourth part discusses the the enlightenment which composition teaching reform gives ustoday. This section can be divided into two parts: First, Xia Mianzun’s teaching theories ofcomposition is forward-looking. His theories’s values are consist with today’s quality education,humanistic education, the main philosophy of education. The way of learning which headvocated is consist with today’s inquiry learning, cooperative learning and independent learning.Second is the guidance of practical character of Xia Mianzun’s composition teaching theorieswhich make us establish a correct composition teaching philosophy that we should pay attentionto the all-round development of the “people”. To establish a correct view of reading and writing,at the same time culture students’ literacy of life.This paper uses literature method to sort out these data, summarized, comparison, analysis,try to analyze Xia Mianzun’s teaching theories of composition in the long history of the languageeducation and proceed from the level of teaching concept. In this way, it’s easier for people tograsp his theories and promote the current composition teaching reform. The rational analysis ofhis theories which is combined with the spirit of the new curriculum standards will promotetoday’s education reform of composition teaching.
