The goal of education is to promote individual’s happiness experience, to increaseindividual’s consicous of happiness, and to develope the competence of happiness.The happiness of teachers is not only correlated with their physiological andpsychological development, but also correlated with students’ grow and the wholedevelopment of school. Therefore, under the background of constructing harmonioussociety, it is necessary to study teacher’s happiness and how to improve theirhappiness. The present study includes four parts. The first part reviewed researchfindings on teachers’ happiness and emotional intelligence in present, and gave thedefinition of teachers’ occupational happiness and emotional intelligence in this paper.The second part surveyed the occupational happiness of middle-school students inYantai of Shandong province used both Day Reconstruction Method(DRM)andtraditional self-report measures of happiness. Results showed that the occupationalhappiness of middle-school teachers was low and needed to improved; the age wasthe most correlated with middle-school teachers’ happiness. The third partinvestigated the influence of emotional intelligence on teachers’ occupationalhappiness. Results showed that the emotional intelligence of middle-school teacherswas a little higher than the middle level and was significantly correlated with theiroccupational happiness. The last part gave suggestions on how to improvemiddle-school teachers’ occupational happiness, such as people-oriented managementin the school, enriching teachers’ spare time life, and promote teachers’ emotionalintelligence etc.
