At the end of last century, the CPC’s Central Committee started a new round of basiceducation curriculum reform for the idea of "The reform of education to promote qualityeducation”. The "New Curriculum Reform" clearly raised to build the three types of courseswhich were based on national, local and school situation to adapt to the different educationalsystem in different parts. Meanwhile, according to the different educational situation indifferent parts, it raised to develop and use local native resources actively in terms of thenational education curriculum requirements. So history, as one of the basic educationcurriculum, the development and utilization of its local resources is very important.How does Shandong Province develop and use the local historical resources for high schoolhistory education services as the first province to start the new curriculum reform? Are thereany questions in the process of development and application? Here, the author takes hishometown Yantai City for example to discuss how to assimilate Yantai area’s rich localhistorical resources to the history teaching of middle school through research on Yantai areaof school history teaching in order to achieve the new curriculum reform’s quality educationgoals by training talent with high quality to adopt the modern Chinese demand.Under the background of the research of the situation of local and abroad historicalresources, this article mainly investigates the situation of development and utilization of localhistorical resources in Yantai area. Center on Modern Chinese History, it identifies theshortcomings and analyses its causes. Besides these, combined with the author’s owneducation and teaching experience, this article analyses and proposes ways to solve theproblem. At the same time, the author also uses the concrete teaching examples to verify thefeasibility of the means in order to achieve the purpose of this article.
