Chemistry Learning Disability of senior high school students is a widely-existededucational phenomenon. Not only does Chemistry Learning Disability hold back theimprovement of teaching quality in an all-round way, but also cause students’ poorpsychological conditions or even behavioral obstacles because of the fact that theydon’t do well in chemistry. As a result, it is necessary to analyze the root causes ofChemistry Learning Disability and make the practical action plan to solve the problem.The aim of the paper is, therefore, to find out the causes of the problem and themeasures that teachers can take to prevent students from acquiring the unsatisfiedchemistry achievements as they expected.In this paper, the author starts by looking at following theories: present situationof research on learning disabilities at home and abroad, the definition, identification,cause and transformation of learning disabilities.With theories above as theoretical guidance, the author first made a series ofquestionary and interview among two classes of99students, then selected12students who have Chemistry Learning Disability and10students who are excellentin chemistry as the subjects. Their performance in chemistry were observed andcompared and the causes were explored and discussed. Based on the results, theauthor put forward some countermeasures and testified them through anempirical study at an individual level.The following conclusions can be drawn from the research:(1) Chemistrylearning disability of senior high school students is a common educationalphenomenon.(2) There are two factors leading to the underachievement inchemistry study: intelligent factors and non-intelligent factors. The former includestudents’ memory, observational abilities, motivation to study and learning strategies.The latter refer to the effects caused by society, school, family and students.(3) Thecountermeasures adopted in the study of action and some cases include: cultivatingstudents’ learning interest, inspiring their motivations, building up their confidence instudy, teaching them efficient study tactics, helping them developing good study habits, establishing a good relationship between teachers and students, forming agood atmosphere for study, creating a harmonious school and family educationenvironment and resisting the undesirable elements of society.
