One of the manifestations in higher agricultural education cooperation is a higher agricultural education between Canada and China, which is also one of the products of China’s reform and opening up and reform of higher education and development. This study takes Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University and Nova Scotia Agricultural College’s cooperative program as the research object, using economic theory analysis of the operation mechanism of Sino-foreign Cooperation in running schools, summarizing the driving force for cooperation in running schools as well as the development process, analyzing cooperation in higher agricultural education by the case of Sino-Canadian. A questionnaire is also conducted to reflect the joint program’s achievement, effectiveness, and its drawbacks in order to improve it at a new prospect. This thesis is comprised of six parts as follows.In the first part, the paper briefly introduces the background, the intention and methodology of undertaking the study. Then it gives an outline of the research of domestic and foreign scholars on the cooperation in higher education between home and abroad.In the second part, based on the economics theories, such as optimal allocation of resources, price elasticity of demand theory and game theory, it theoretically analyzes the operational mechanism of the Sino-foreign cooperation in running schools.In the third part, it summarizes the driving force and the courses of the development of Chinese-foreign cooperation in running schools.In the fourth part, taking the joint program between FAFU and Nova Scotia Agricultural College (NSAC) as an example, it clarifies the differences of higher educations between Chinese and Canadian on several aspects, such as the entry requirements, personnel training, quality control, students’scientific research and teaching evaluation, etc.In the fifth part, based on a survey with respondents from the 2005 and 2006 school year entrants of the joint program, it draws a conclusion of the joint program’s achievement as a source of reference and figures out its deficiency so that proposal can be put forward with measures being taken afterwards to improve the Sino-foreign programs.In the sixth part, according to the above analysis, this paper comments on the joint program and offers some advices on the development of Sino-foreign higher agricultural educational cooperation.
