To strengthen the saving and intensive use of land resource is our inevitableselection to get rid of the bottleneck effect of land resource guarantee for social andeconomic development and to break the paradox of "ensuring food safety, ensuringeconomic development, and protecting ecological environment". After reviewing andanalyzing the domestic literature about land intensive use, we find that the existingrelated research focused on urban land intensive use, and researches about urban-ruraldevelopment land intensive use didn’t appear since2007. In recent years, along withmore attention paid for urban-rural coordinating development form the government, the author thinks that taking the urban-rural development land as research object is notonly significant, but will become the research focus and hotspot.Based on the above cognition, the research designed the urban-rural developmentland coordinating increase and decrease model, and introduced theentire-array-polygon indictor method, and divided intensive use type andcomprehensive index interval, and constructed evaluation index system from fiverespects. Then it use the model and method to analyze the utilization condition and thespatial-temporal variation characteristics of intensive use level of urban-ruraldevelopment land for every districts and counties between2000and2008, andanalyze which factors led the results and put forward some clear different suggestions. The analyzing results are as follows. Firstly, urban development land is mainlydistributed in the four urban districts and its scale is gradually increasing during thenine years. However, rural residential land is mainly distributed in the three suburbancounties and its scale is increasing at first but becomes smooth during the followingyears. Secondly, the urban development land and rural residential land have increasedin the research period so that it belong the II zone, but it can be considered to relatedcoordinating condition combined the rural population’s change. Thirdly, the intensiveuse level of different districts and counties has different effective factors and activeintensity, and the factors and active intensity are sustainably changing. This led to thetendency of intensive use level is not gradually increasing, in some extent; the trend is affected by dynamic indicators. In the spatial perspective, the scores of four districtsare commonly higher than the three counties’. Totally, it is the economic factorsdriving the intensive use level and the demographic factors have little effect. Fourthly, the paper gives two suggestions for prompting the urban-rural development landintensive use level: the one is to control the new increase development land to formthe anti-driving mechanism; the other one is to optimize their industrial structure anddevelop each dominant industry to improve the performance of development land andfasting and sustainable developing of economy.
