The successful operation of high-speed rail, as a revolutionary of transport of the transport sector, is not only changed the pattern of transport, pioneered a new era in transportation, but also had a profound impact on the region’s economic development along the high-speed rail, resulting in huge economic effect. The development of high-speed rail closed the temporal and spatial distance between different regions, improved transport conditions, changed the pattern of economic geography and people’s lifestyles, and had a major impact on China’s economic development.This paper systematically analysis the mechanism of high-speed rail on the regional economy from regional economic development, regional economic relations and regional economic policies affect, clarifying the path of the high-speed rail on the regional economy, and then expound the regional economic effects of high-speed railway. Based on analysis, high-speed rail development impacted regional economic mainly through two paths, its own industrial chain and improving the transport conditions. The positive impact is mainly reflected on the effects of regional economic integration, the regional city of the effects, industrial agglomeration effect and diffusion effect, and negative impact is mainly reflected as a siphon effect.The paper used the panel data model and comparative analysis to analyzed the influence of the region’s economic development along Wuhan-Guangzhou high-speed railway after its opening, and analyzed different speed railway lines on the regional economy. The results showed that the economic development is relatively fast if it was along with high speed railway line. The impact of high-speed rail on the economic development of areas along was different between areas. The big city’s urbanization rate is steady improving while the rate of small and medium-sized cities declined, and siphon effect gradually exists. The third industry in big cities develop rapidly, and it’s industrial structure was further optimized. Meanwhile, the secondary industry of small and medium-sized cities also had rapid development. And tourism was in the booming high. The overall development has significantly accelerated.
