The Research On Regional Economic Development Effect Of High-speed Railway

It has not yet reached same conclusion about the impact of high-speed railway on regional economic development. Most transportation economists just study the impact of high-speed railway on developed economic region. They concluded that the construction of high-speed railway could change the competitive relationship of the regional modes of transportation, affect regional industrial structure as well as promoting regional economic growth and optimize the regional structure, that the development of high-speed railway have positve impact on regional economic development. But the fact have proved that with the implementation of the expansion of high-speed railway investment and management operations, its negative impact on the regional economic development is also gradually revealed, also rationality in the high-speed railway network planning has a direct impact on regional economic development.Based on the network characteristics of high-speed railway and regional economic spillover effects, this paper take high-speed railway on regional economic growth path as the main analytical framework, analyses the polarization effect of the high-speed rail network on the regional economic development, study high-speed railway’ spillover effect and its functional mechanism to regional economic development. Finally, we came to the conclusion that the construction of high-speed railway have both positive spillover effects and negative spillover effects to the regional economic development. The construction of high-speed railway in the economically developed regions and the economically developing regions will have different impacts on regional economic development. Performance of the spillover effect of high-speed railway on the effects of regional development economic are regional economic effect, regional industrial agglomeration and diffusion effects, as well as urban agglomeration effects and social and cultural effects.At last, our paper concludes that the impact of high-speed railway network on regional economic development is related to many factors, and the high-speed railway’s impact on regional economic development is uncertain. In the short term, high-speed railway construction will promote local regional economic development and uncertain to other regional economic development. But in the long term, the spatial spillover effects of the high-speed railway will promote other regional economic development, that high-speed railway for other regional economic development showed positive spatial spillover effects. Finally, according to the status of China’s high-speed railway and regional economic development, the author put forward to several suggestions for coordination of high-speed railway construction and regional economic development.
