Russia's Far East Ocean Transportation Research

Marine transit is one of the most important and traditional way of conveyance inRussian Far East area, it has a direct influence over the development of nationaleconomy there. Harbors located along Pacific Coastal are the strategic gateways forRussia to contact countries and areas of Northeast Asia, they mostly connect the GreatBaikal-Amur Railway and the Trans-Siberian Railway, and play very important roles inthe maritime transportation of Far East area and Russia. All are of certain theoreticaland realistic meanings for strengthening Sino-Russian regional economic cooperationand strategic cooperative partnership in21century, to carefully pay a close attention andsystematically study the past, present and future situation of Russian Far East maritimetransit since World War II, to find out existing problems and offer solutions, to work onthe policy of promotion the sustainable and rapid development of Sino-Russian regionalmarine transport cooperation.Based on logical analysis, the thesis consists of4chapters except of introductionand conclusion.In chapter one, it generalizes and summarizes the overview of Russian Far Eastmaritime space and transit, including parts and scope of waters, distribution and role ofmain harbors, classification of maritime transit, etc., to provide a theoretical basis forfurther researching Far East marine transport.In chapter two, it studies the development of Far East maritime transportation atthe days of Soviet Union, including the business developments and main features ofocean shipping companies, merchant fleets, harbors, port enterprises, etc.In chapter three, it researches reform and developments of Far East marine transitsince the collapse of the Soviet Union, and analyze the problems existed in reform andits reason.In chapter four, it discusses the positive factor of the development of Sino-Russianregional marine transport cooperation, think about the measures of strengthening them.
