| The development and transition of resource-based economies like a protracted war, which need to undergo a long and difficult process. Shanxi Province is one of China’s most typical resource-based economy, its economic growth and development depending on coal resources deeply. Problems about resources, environment, economic and social contradictions in economic development there are very prominent. Shanxi Province was selected as an experimental zone of the resource-based economy transition, having strong representation and a high demonstration value. Shanxi Province is in the process of restructuring of its resource-based economy and traditional industries, including the coal industry, coke industry, metallurgical industry, power industry. Its replacing-industry (equipment manufacturing, new coal chemical industry) and emerging industries (transformation of cultural industries, modern logistics industry) have got some achievements. In this paper, we made a research on the status of the industrial transformation in Shanxi Province.The paper consists of five parts. Background, purpose and significance of research in the first part; the theory of resource-based economy transition in the second part, Including the concept of resource-based economy, the concept and characteristics of industrial restructuring, research frontier of resource-based transformation. The third part is about the characteristics of the resource-based economic in Shanxi Province, including the status and characteristics of economic development, the industrial structure and the bottleneck of economic development. The next describes the status and development of resource-based economic transformation in Shanxi Province, making an analysis of achievements and problems in the process transformation. The fifth part put forward some advices on industrial restructuring and development process by the combination of the actual situation in Shanxi Province to the experience of Germany’s Ruhr region. |
