As a kind of high labor intensity and high added-value flow lines, assemblingline is widely used in manufactures, getting good results. With the developing ofscience and technology in market economy, it is difficult for a traditional singlespecies flow line to meet the needs of product diversification, small-lot productionand the model of making to order, especially for automobile manufacturers. Toimprove the manufacturing process, both of some measures based on the mode ofproduction and lean production must be taken into application. Designing a rationalprocess, making full advantage of resource, lowering the cost, and putting energyconservation and efficiency improvement into practice are the developing goals forautomobile manufacturers.Yanfeng Visteon is one of main suppliers of general motors, which has achievedproduction controlled with information. However, because of the gaps betweencapacity improvement and customs’ demand, while the old mode of physicaldistribution can not be satisfied with the new production requests, Yanfeng is facedwith the unprecedented opportunities and challenges. This paper evaluates theproduction condition of factory using value stream analysis method as well ascombining with actual production of Yanfeng. This paper will define the cockpit asthe bottleneck of the original production line and on the basis of which put forwardeffective suggestions of improvement in terms of classification of original cockpitproduction line, production plan, logistics organizational form and microstructuredesign, thus reducing the risk of stop-line by10%and improving the productionefficiency by10%. All of above should be in accord with principles like not changingthe current equipments much and not increasing storage and area. Meanwhile,meeting customer needs and improving their degrees of satisfaction by enhanceproduction efficiency serve as the goal of those suggestions.Furthermore, this paper discusses some tools and information technologies oflean management as well as their application mode and relevant notes when it comes to production practice. Besides, this paper explores the trend of future research bypointing out that the combination of various ways of improvement will largelyimprove the market response ability and production efficiency of assembly line. Thisstudy is expected to have a significance for reference and bring some inspirations forother production-oriented enterprises.
