The rural social insurance system around the country was first built in1990. Although it played a certain role in the rural, family support is always the center of the rural old-age security throughout the long course of the rural area. This article started by the supporting behavior of the elderly in the context of the market economy. It attempted to clarify the changing process of the supporting culture by studying the function of the family support, the modernity on the supporting culture, the shock about it by the market-oriented market rationality. Meanwhile the article inquired the weakness of the intergenerational supporting, the decline of the family function so as to understand the foundation of rural family supporting in market-oriented economy clearly and make a new look on the family supporting mode in the new period.The main feature of this article is combining the supporting culture with the reality of rural family support nowadays.
