Leading users participate in product innovation which has the practicalsignificance.With the experience economy era arriving,The needs of usersbecome diversified, At the same time, it is difficult for manufacturers to meet theunique needs of the users, so users participate in product innovation. Leadingusers walk in the forefront of the market, they have higher propensity toparticipate in product innovation and better innovation performance. So it hasimportant theoretical and practical significance to research the performance ofleading users participating in product innovation and influencing factors.This paper studies factors which influence performance of leading usersparticipating in product innovation, This article explores relations betweenperformance and relevant factors. The whole paper is divided into three sections:theoretical discussion, empirical research and study conclusion. In the firstsection, We learn the research achievements of scholars at home and abroad.Combined with the status of leading users in China participating in productinnovation, this paper forms the dominant research ideas and puts forth thecorresponding theory hypothesis and research model. In the second part, Wechoose the Lighttpd software as the research object. We issued186questionnaires to Lighttpd software users, recycling effective questionnaire116copies. Through factor analysis and regression analysis, We find four maininfluencing factors of leading users participating in product innovation,including the characteristics of leading users, the internal motivation of leadingusers participating product innovation,the external motivation of leading usersparticipating product innovation, creative self-efficacy. The empirical resultsshow that factors descending order internal motivation, creative self-efficacy, thecharacteristics of leading users, external motivation. These factors have asignificant positive impact on performance of leading users participating inproduct innovation. At last, This paper argues that the leading users participatingproduct innovation can make better innovation performance. Therefore,enterprises should seriously consider the needs of users in the productionpractice. They should realize the value of the leading users participating in product innovation. They also should actively cultivate leading users andsincerely invite them to participate in product innovation.
