The Studthy Of The Rural Residents’ Poverty Problems In Jiangxi Province

Poverty is a worldwide problem; all countries are in effort to eradicate poverty. Inrecent decades, many countries have successively accelerated pace to solve theproblem of poverty. China is a large developing country, the elimination of poverty isnot only conductive to the development of the economy, and the improvement of theliving standards of the human, and is also a huge contribution to the whole of mankind.Since the implemention of China’s reform and opening up policy, JiangXi Provincealways follows national guidance, policies and guidelines, and the urban and ruraleconomy made a rapid growth, however, the problem of poverty in rual areas is stillserious, and is becoming more and more complex. To eliminate poverty must be adhereto “people-oriented”, in order to make sure that the poor people own their dignity, andpay more attention to the spirit in the process of eliminating poverty. Solving theproblem of povety of the rural residents in JiangXi Province, is conductive to themaintenance of rural reform, development and stability, is also conductive to theconstruction of new socialist countryside in JiangXi, which has an extremely importantpolitical, economic and social significance.This paper is divided into seven chapters.The first chapter is an introduction, which includes a brief statement of thebackground and significance of the study, and the literature review based upon povertyand anti-poverty theories that are advanced by foreign or Chinese economists. In thispart, the author also points out the framework of this paper, and both innovation andinadequacies are included.The second chapter describes the theoretical basis of the paper, and analyzes theproblem of poverty based on the theory of poverty trap and the theoretical system ofAmartya Sen.The third chapter explains the definition of the poverty in detail, also includingthe categories and criterion of the poverty.The fourth chapter analyzes the living conditons of the rural poor people. Firstly,the paper analyzes the size and distribution of the poor people in rual countryside inJiangXi Province. Then through the comparison of the lowest income farmers and thehighest income farmers, we can know their conditions on income level. This chapteralso has the detailed analysis of the social welfare and living standard of the poor inJiangXi Province. The fifth chapter discusses the reasons of poverty in JiangXi countryside. Thereasons are embodied with internal factors and external (objective) factors. Theinternal factors include the physical fitness and the cultural qualities.The sixth chapter descripts the successful experiences that are made by Korea’snew rural movement and Bangladesh’s microcredit measure.The last chapter has given some advices on eliminating poverty in rural areas inJiangXi.
