Total Factor Productivity Analysis Of Xinjiang Industry

Research on the level of economic development has always been the hot spot of the academic circles, research on productivity is the usual research methods, the development of productivity theory has experienced the single elements of production theory and then the theory of total factor productivity (TFP), especially after the second world war, the research to the theory of TFP is becoming more and more perfect. TFP is the basic theory of measure whether the economic sustainable development, facing the special ecological environment in Xinjiang, this paper selects the method of TFP to analysis the quality of Xinjiang industries.Industry is the major strength of economic development, the level of industrial development is one of the important indices for a regional economic development level. Due to historical reasons, Xinjiang industry started very late, the basic of industry in Xinjiang is very poor. When new China was founded, almost no large industrial enterprises in Xinjiang, but as the government’s emphasis on economic development in Xinjiang, the Xinjiang industry has made great achievements. And it made outstanding contribution to economy, so the study of Xinjiang industrial total factor productivity has more realistic significance.In this paper, firstly compared several methods for measuring the TFP, selected the non-parametric DEA-Malmquist method designated the TFP of the31industries, draw these conclusions:(1) In2005-2011, the TFP of29industries are rising, technology efficiency is the major factor to hinder TFP increasing;(2) Advantage and comparative advantage industries productivity ranking back, and industries have nothing to do with the superior resources of Xinjiang TFP ranking top.Due to the research results, the reasons of industries’TFP changing were analyzed, and Suggestions are put forward based on empirical research results.
