The annual International Day of Disabled Persons on December3rd aims topromote awareness of the issues surrounding people with disabilities; its theme is toprotect the dignity, rights, and well-being of disabled persons and to build towards abetter world for them. On average, people with disabilities are less healthy, lesseducated, and have less economic opportunities than their peers. They tend to be morevulnerable to unemployment, and the poverty rate and the mortality rate is also higherthan the average person. In addition, because of prejudice and discrimination, therights of persons with disabilities often do not receive adequate protection.This paper on the development of barrier-free environments at home and abroadconcept, the construction of a barrier-free environment for international developmenttrend of history, as well as basic aspects of our country’s construction of a barrier-freeenvironment for research, summed up the basic requirements for barrier-free design ofurban public space and principles. Construction of barrier-free urban environment is one of respect and the loveof life, is a symbol of social civilization and progress. This thesis through thesystematic study of barrier-free design of urban public space system analysis, hopes toincrease public understanding and appreciation of the accessibility issues, formingjoint participation in the construction of humanistic space environment all members ofsociety.With the development of material and spiritual culture of society, the increasingdegree of human civilization, social life of persons with disabilities has become a social focus. Situations where the traditional isolation of persons with disabilities an dthe social life has been abandoned by modern people, take positive attitude towardpeople with disabilities participation in society. In addition, for China, with theworld’s most populous, large population base and trends in light of the ageingpopulation, but also for contemporary architects presented problems to be solved.
