Along with the increasingly fining of social division of labor and complexityof modern city, urban planning has developed from a pure architectural andengineering technology subject to the integration of technology with humanities, social and economic science. In another word, urban planning is more and moreinvolved in the social science category. Against this background, some newrequirements on urban planning professionals and the training mode of talents arepresented. As a result of the long-standing utilitarianism in education system, excessiveemphasis on specialization and weakness or even lack of humanistic education arevery common problems in current education of engineering colleges and universities. And the specific problems for urban planning professional education include closedschool running mode, unreasonable humanistic curriculum timing and coursearrangement which don’t accord with cognitive rules of urban planning.
