To ensure the proper operation of the5kW photovoltaic plant, we need a professional and efficient monitoring system to monitor the operating and environment parameters of the plant in real time. This article discusses a cost-effective, easy to use and versatile design of5kW photovoltaic plant status parameters monitoring system.The article first discusses the design of the overall system, establishing the upper and lower machines architecture, studying the monitoring methods of the8parameters, understanding the basic principle of each method and choosing the appropriate sensor. Next, the article discusses the hardware design of the system. The hardware system includes upper and lower machines, the upper machine is the PC, which is responsible for all monitoring information display, data processing and control to the lower machines. The lower machines are the two data collection modules which were placed indoor and outdoor. The structure of each module consists of sensors, A/D converters and control chips, communication between the upper and lower machines using the RS485bus. Through the study of the specific features of each module, the article designs optimum circuit configuration and chooses the most appropriate components. Then, the article discusses the design of the software system, determines the C language and VB.NET as the programming languages, Keil and VS2008as the programming environment, the lower machine is used for data acquisition, data processing, LCD display and data transmission. The upper machine is used for operation of the overall monitoring interface, digital and graphical display of the parameters and the achievement of the photovoltaic parameters database. At the end of the article, it discusses the process of the final production and debugging, analyzes the problem met in the process, summarizes the result of the study and puts forward some suggestions and expectations to the improvement of the system.
